My Sweet Husband...

On Monday (of last week)... I worked about 15 hours. We've been rolling out a new specialty training at work and it was our big presentation day. When I got home, Mike was being very sweet and offered to make me Mac 'n' Cheese. Since he's not a world class chef (let's face it, neither am I), I was pretty excited!!

Once he finished making it... he brought out 2 big bowls of the good stuff. We were just relaxing in front of the TV and eating when I noticed him playing with his food. I must've asked him 5 times what he was doing and everytime, I got the same answer... "Nothing".

After I cleaned my bowl. Mike leans in close to give me a sweet little kiss. After he leans back, he asks "How was it?".

"mmm, the cheesiest..." was my reply.

Next, he sticks his bowl right under my nose. Now, I know something bad was about to happen when I noticed that his bowl is still 3/4 full. Then he looks at me, sweetly (another red flag), and says: "What's that?"

AAAHHHH!!

2, count 'em, 2 dead bug bodies on the rim of his bowl. Apparently, when I thought he was only playing with his food... he was picking the corpses out of his bowl. You see, we still have some boxes of mac 'n' cheese that we got as a wedding gift, 2 years ago. So, I guess we should've seen it coming.

Still, I was mortified!! Especially since I'd asked him, repeatedly, what he was doing!! I was so sick to my stomach, that I immediately started dry heaving, right in front of him.

Now what's my adoring hubby doing, you ask???

LAUGHING, hysterically!! In between his outbursts of giggles, he actually says to me, "...Brittainy, don't you throw up on my new couch...". Which, of course, only added fuel to the swelting fires of rage building inside of me.

Luckily, this all happened around 10:30 p.m. I went upstairs to bed without totally losing it on him; and by morning, I was able to start laughing it off, too.

Now, I ask you... "What has your sweet husband/wife done for you, lately?"

Ah, the joys of the daily commute!!

Kyrie and I are AMAZING!!!

Yesterday was an event! Kyrie begged me to ride home with her from work so she wouldn't be lonely during the rush hour commute. I, graciously, accepted and we were on our way (I haven't been home before 5:00 all week, so I was thrilled to leave at 3:30)! We got on I-215 from 201 and were cruising along chatting when Kyrie's car made this funny "thunk"... it sounded like a water bottle had popped in the back seat. How do I know this? Because I have about 5 water bottles in my back seat and eventually, they all POP!! Anyways... we looked at each other and around where we were, to see if Kyrie ahd run something over; but we didn't see anything so we kept on truckin'! A few minutes later we were up to Kyrie's freeway speed and suddenly, the car sounded like we were dragging a dead body behind it.

We looked at each other, dumb-founded at the noise. Initially, I looked at Kyrie and calmly stated "I think we've got a flat tire". Before I knew it, we were coming to what seemed like a sudden stop in the middle of the busy freeway. Remember the freeway scene in Clueless? Yep, that was us!!

...and then, the panic set in...

My Reaction: "Oh my heck, Pull Over, Pull Over....you're not over far enough....Kyrie get over more....now you're too far over."
Kyrie's Reaction: "What is that noise? Brittainy, I don't know what to do... call the police!" So, apparently, she took her foot off of the gas (again, in the middle of the freeway; during RUSH HOUR) and started to pull off the road.

We pull over and yes, the tire was blown. So, then the adventure really begins! We get out of the car (Both of us in High-HIGH Heels) and research the damage. Kyrie tends to carry a lot of "treasures" in her trunk, which normally isn't a problem until you blow a tire and need to get to the spare. So, Kyrie and I were on the side of I-215, in heels, unpacking the trunk, and then trying to get the dang tire out! We're both short...very short, so when we did get to the tire, it was really hard for us to get it out of the trunk! With that we were on our way to being "fix-it" girls.

Our dad made it a point to teach us how to change a tire (we can do oil too!) when we were little. What he failed to do was teach us that there are other types of jacks, not just the pump up and down kind. So, for the next 10-15 minutes Kyrie and I are trying to get the handle on the jack to release so we can get this stupid tire on. Cars keep going by, a few Highway Patrol cars go by, and the next thing we know we're getting honked at...by our mom!!! (She recognized us from Kyrie's bright orange heels!) At this point, we're both on our cell phones trying to get a hold of someone, mom has pulled over about 200 yards ahead of us, and we don't know whether to laugh or cry! For the record, we called: Mike (who didn't answer), Josh (who was in Ogden picking up Declan, laughing his head off), Stephen and Lance (who were both gone for the day), and Ryan (who picked up his phone, said, "Obviously I'm at work. Call me later." then hung up).

Just when mom calls to see if we are all right a scary beater white truck pulls over to help us. His plates were from California (thanks all you nice Utah drivers for just passing us!!) and he was a very tired looking old man. As soon as he pulled over another SUV pulls behind us (Wow! 20 minutes later and we finally get 2 strangers!!) Any who, the SUV leaves because the little old man told him to, and he continues to change our tire. After another 15 minutes we were on our way!

Kyrie dropped me off at home at 5:00, where I casually questioned Mike for not answering his phone... informing him of the emergency situation that we'd just been through. And Kyrie, then, continued the adventure all the way to Big-O tires in Layton (off of main!). Our dad told her to take the car there and tell them "Wayne Sent Me". So, that is what she did. There, the guys are looking at her like she's some crazy person and ask her who Wayne is and why they should know them. At this time the water works were about to start and she just stared blankly at them (anyone who knows how sensitive my sweet baby sister is, should be proud of her for holding in the sobbing). Finally, they said, "We're just kidding! Your dad already called to tell us you were coming!". It took all that she had not to cry, swear, or throw a jack. Good thing they admitted to the joke then! They fixed the tire in record time (actually she had to get a new one...but who's counting!) and then she finally made it home to Josh and Declan!

The End!

Californication!!

What a way to say goodbye to summer!! On Saturday the 13th, we hit the road and headed toward the happiest place on earth... that's right... DiSnEyLaNd!

There's nothing more exciting than stuffing a mini-van (with 6 adults, one 2 yr old, a car seat, luggage, and enough snacks to feed a herd of buffalo) and driving it 12 hours to sunny California. But, even with the loss of feeling in everything from the waist down... it was the best trip, ever!!

We spent our first actual day playing in the pool at the hotel... sorry... no pictures of that one. I promise you'll thank me later!! Declan (our 2 yr old nephew) was less than excited to see the pool. Luckily, Mike and Josh were able to con him into it, thanks to their skills in reverse psychology!! We had some fiercely competetive under-water hand stand contests... which, despite Kyrie's cheating... Mike pretty much dominated!

The next morning, we headed to California Adventure!!

We were so excited to see our first new friend of the day... you guessed it... PLUTO!! At first, Declan was scared and wanted nothing to do with him, but he wamred up pretty quickly!
Next, we were off to my favorite ride: The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror!! It may look like your average 5 star hotel along the Hollywood strip, but don't be decieved.... spooky things go on inside it's classy facade! Mwah-ha-ha-ha (that's a scary laugh)!! We went on it twice in a row... and I was elated the whole time!! I couldn't control my laughing! If you've got a strong stomach, I definitely recommend it! Our other favorites were Soarin' Over California, Toy Story, and Josh's favorite... the Sun Wheel. Yeah, I think his exact quote was "I hate you guys".

After California Adventure, we took Josh to Medeival Times for his birthday dinner! It was so exciting to cheer for our favorite knight and boo the bad guys! Go Black & White Knight!!

Day two was just as much fun. We hit Sea World, that day!! We watched Shamu do amazing things that only mammals with flippers are capable of. We got soaked by the dolphins, yes, the dolphins, and laughed hysterically at the Sea Lions! The only down side... we got fried!!

On Wednesday, we finally made it to Disneyland!! We did everything the way that would make Mickey proud... starting with getting ears for Declan!!
We couldn't resist the ever popular Indiana Jones, Matterhorn Mountains... and the best ride, ever... PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN!! We even ate lunch at the Blue Bayou, it's the restaurant you float by when on Pirate's!! In Toon Town, we got to see Mickey, Pluto, Goofy, and even Chip!!

Thursday was awesome! We spent the day at Universal Studios! There, we met Shrek & Donkey as well as Sponge Bob Square Pants (who seemed to love Dec!!). We kept losing Mike Dad, though... we'd find them later with a new form of food in their hands!! The best part of that day had to be the new Simpson's Ride!!

Other cool things we saw and did included: The Mummy Returns roller coaster, Jurassic Park-the ride, and the Back Lot Tour. Dad and I also loved the House of Horror... but for some reason, Kyrie and Mike weren't too fond of it!!

Kyrie, Josh, Declan, and I made the most of our last day in Disneyland (Friday). Mom, Dad, and Mike stayed at the hotel until about 5:30 p.m. Apparently, we'd worn them out. While they were gone, we made sure to get Declan the whole little kid experience!! We took him on every ride in Fantasyland... including the Mickey-go-round and the Tea Cups! I was so glad to have the little man there, it gave me a great excuse to ride all those rides that even Josh and Kyrie weren't interested in! We took him back to Toon Town and watched the parade, too! By the time we met up with mom, dad, and Mike... Declan was worn out. He'd fallen asleep at the table while having ice cream!! It was the cutest thing I've ever seen. That night, we made sure to watch the fireworks in front of Sleeping Beauty's Castle. It was a great way to end the trip!!

Gettin' Outdoorsy at Reeder's Roost!

The weekend of August 8th was such a blast!! We went up to the Reeder cabin in the Uinta Highlands with some of our favorite friends!! We headed out for the mountains after work on Friday... Mike and I car-pooled with Josh and Kyrie. Much to my dismay, my brother-in-law is exactly like my dad when going on trips. We couldn't help but giggle a little as he was boiling mad while we were loading the jeep with everything from treats and drinks, to blankets and bedding.

The cabin was full with 10 of us (Stu & Sarah, Josh & Kyrie, Hyrum & Emily, and Justin & Melissa) and our favorite australian sheep herder, Blue. The cabin has 2 small bedrooms, and a great loft up top. Eight of us slept (or tried to sleep) up there. Unfortunately... Josh and Hyrum were apparently trying to see who could snore the loudest and longest. Poor Justin, had to sleep in his car on Saturday night, thanks to their nasal symphony.

Once we arrived, and Josh calmed down (kidding!!), we had a blast. We cooked some great grub and gathered around the campfire. While eating our s'mores, there was a lot of talk about killer bears, spiders, ghosts, and even the witch who lived in an old wooden tee-pee behind the cabin... the perfect spooky start to a good old campin' trip!!

When we weren't scaring eachother, we were playing a million games... Loaded Questions, 4 hours of Apples to Apples, and a Risk marathon that lasted all 3 days!! We went biking, hiking, and driving around to experience the whole adventure. In our down time... I got caught up on my Twilight Series books (whew)!!

We left Sunday afternoon. It was sad to say goodbye, but we're planning on making it an annual trip!! It was perfect for relaxing and getting extra close to our good friends!! Can't wait until next year!! Stu & Sarah, thank you for the awesome weekend!!

Summer's Here!!

Hooray for SuMmEr!! I'm so glad that the winter weather has finally ended!! Hopefully we don't get any snow in July... but you can never really tell...

So far, the summer has been fantastic!! Mike's been playing softball and even had a tournament last Saturday. He's been doing great, but his teams haven't... during the tournament, they made it through the first game with no problems, but lost the next two. Needless to say, they were eliminated. He has a game, tonight, with the National Guard team he's been playing on with his brother... so, keep your fingers crossed.

While Mike was playing in his tournament, I was in Pocatello with my mom and sister. We had a big family reunion with all of the relatives on my mom's side of the family. The trip up was pretty nice, we went to breakfast and Declan was a little angel during the ride there. He got really excited when he saw the pool... he'd just finished the last of his first swimming lessons! The aquatic center was great!! They had a lazy river, a tube slide, and even a lilly pad game. They kiddie pool was so cool, even I wanted to play on it. The sad thing is, that even though he was so excited to go swimming, Declan only wanted to walk around the rim of the kiddie pool.

I spent a lot of time with my favorite cousin, Brittany. She's married to another Mike who, ironically, has the same birthday as my Mike. They're having their first baby in October and she's adorable with her tummy!! We also got to hang out with our cousins, Scott and Dan! They were like the big brothers we never had when we were growing up. It's so fun to see them being responsible parents, because they were pretty goofy. Scott married one of our favorite babysitters and we love them, all!! I'd almost forgotten how much fun our extended family is... and I'm so grateful that we got to see them!!

My favorite summer activity has always been going on slip n' slides!! On Monday, we had a party with all of Mike's family. One of his aunts brought a HUGE slip n' slide... even though I was wearing work out pants, I couldn't resist! We raced, we jumped, we went down in foursies... and no one got hurt, too bad!! After playing in the water for a couple hours... we had a big family soccer team... it was a blast!

Welp, that's about it for now. I can't wait to add some new pictures!!

Happy 4th of July!!

Love,
Brit

We're back!!

It's been a while, but, I'm happy to say that we're back and ready for more blogging action. Special thanks to Jealin, for creating the totally awesome layout that we now have... so we're not so generic, anymore!!

We've had a lot of ups and downs these past few months, and we're looking forward to some happy times, ahead!

One of the sad things that has happened, is my Grandpa moving back to Georgia. My whole family (on my dad's side) is from Atlanta, so Papa's been looking forward to moving there for a while, now. We spent about 5 days packing him up and reminiscing. Even after a semi full of his belongings were packed, his house is still pretty full. Our family is so close and Papa came to dinner at my parents' house every Sunday... so, needless to say, we've been struggling ever since he left. It took him 2 and 1/2 days to get to Woodstock Georgia (a suburb of Atlanta). He arrived the afternoon after a huge tornado had wiped out and damaged about 1,000 homes. Fear not, the Roberson clan is okay!

Mike and I love music, so we've been going to a lot of concerts, lately. One of our new found loves is definitely Angels and Airwaves. We went to their concert back in March and it took us 3 hours to get inside the doors. As our luck goes... it was only 20 degrees outside the whole time. By the time we got in, we were pretty much popsicles! It was totally worth it, though. Their new album, I-Empire, is out now... and I definitely recommend it!!

Our BIG news is that we broke ground on our new house 2 weeks ago!! HOORAY! As of last Friday... we even have a foundation! I'm really looking forward to the day when we have walls and doors... won't that be excititng? Mike and I are so excited to get into the house and have friends and family over! We have been taking pictures, every step of the way and are going to get some on our blog as soon as possible. Below is a link to our floor plan... we've added and changed a few things, so our's will look a little different.

We hope all is well, for everyone!!

Love,
Brit
